The most technically advanced, Industrial grade,
electrically driven actuators
in the world!

Products
REXA designs, manufactures, and markets a complete line of both linear and rotary microprocessor based, self contained electohydraulic actuators and drives.  There are three basic technologies that are used to power actuators; pneumatic, electromechanical, and electrohydraulic systems.  Our core technology incorporates the performance strengths and eliminates the weaknesses of all three.

Product Description
Linear actuators and drives are available with thrusts ranging from 500 to 200,000 lbf and with strokes to 64 inches.  Rotary units with rotations to 270 degrees (90 degree is standard) are available with torques ranging from 600 to 400,000 in-lbf.  Higher thrust, stroke, torque, and/or rotation are considered on an individual basis.

Smaller units in both linear and rotary configurations are used in a wide variety of general purpose applications.  The larger actuators and drives are more typically used in power generation plants for critical valve and damper control and in pipeline valve control.

Technology
The REXA patented flow matching actuation technology is centered on the unique flow matching valves.  These valves are specialized pilot operated check valves which combine a cylinder lock up function with flow control capabilities.  The cylinder lock up function is critical for the actuator to hold position when the pump motor is shut off.  This feature makes it possible for the actuator to function as a digital device (pump motor running when corrective motion is required, pump motor shut off when correct position is attained).

Flow control capability is critical when relieving high pressure from the cylinder to achieve smooth, controlled motion.  If the high pressure is not throttled before reaching the pump suction, the actuator motion is erratic, resulting in process fluctuations.  The flow matching valve produces the required smooth control by automatically throttling the high pressure between the cylinder and the pump suction.

The word "Electraulic" was coined by REXA to describe our revolutionary technology which combines the
bulletSimplicity of electric operation
bulletPower of hydraulics
bulletReliability of solid state electronics
bulletFlexibility of user configured control

A hydraulic system has long been recognized as providing superior performance in the operation of final control elements.  Unfortunately, advantages such as quick response, precision and high stiffness were often outweighed by frequent maintenance, nonstandard construction and high cost.  By utilizing Electraulic technology, REXA is able to bring to general process control the advantages of hydraulic operation without its drawbacks. Inherent in REXA's proven design are:
bulletSelf contained actuator mounted hydraulics
bulletNo maintenance
bulletLow power consumption
bulletRugged building block components
